Lee Davis

Lee Davis is the Collection Development and Metadata Librarian at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU). He holds a Master of Library Science with a concentration in Archives and Records Management from North Carolina Central University, a Master of Liberal Arts and Sciences from the University of North Carolina Asheville, and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of South Carolina.

 

Lee’s academic background in history, interdisciplinary studies, and library science informs his approach to collection development and metadata. His work emphasizes equitable access, accurate description, thoughtful stewardship, and the long-term discoverability of library resources. His training in archives and records management further supports his commitment to preserving institutional knowledge and maintaining reliable, sustainable information systems.

In his current role at JCSU, Lee supports the development, organization, and description of the library’s physical and digital collections. He works collaboratively with library colleagues and the university community to ensure that collections reflect the institution’s curriculum, research needs, history, and cultural heritage while remaining accessible to students, faculty, staff, and researchers.

 

Outside of work, Lee enjoys movies, writing, and spending time in the mountains. These interests reflect his appreciation for storytelling, creativity, and spaces that encourage reflection and exploration.
